
Ashwin Mahabaleswara is a Managing Director at DWM Asset Management and a member of the firm’s senior management team. He serves as Fund Manager for the firm’s private credit funds, overseeing global private credit strategies spanning 30+ emerging and frontier markets.
Since joining DWM in 2012, Ashwin has held leadership roles across private credit and private equity, including serving as Head of Private Debt for Asia and Africa and heading portfolio value creation for the firm’s Private Equity funds. Ashwin brings over two decades of experience in global credit and capital markets. Prior to DWM, he served as Head of Finance & Treasury at Credit Access Grameen, one of India’s leading microfinance companies. His earlier roles include investment banking and wealth management positions at JM Financial (formerly JM Morgan Stanley), Scotia Capital, and Berkshire Securities in Canada and in India.
In addition to his work at DWM, Ashwin is a member of the Loan Committee of Partners for the Common Good, and serves on the board of the U.S. endowment entity of McGill University. He holds a BA in Economics from McGill University, is a CFA charter-holder, and holds the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation.
